Festival Overview

Five Days at the Farm

  • Arrival day: Wednesday 24 June
  • Programme: Thursday – Sunday
  • Closes: Sunday evening 28 June
  • Camping: Included in ticket

Scale

  • • 200,000+ attendees (largest greenfield music festival in the world)
  • • 100+ stages, areas and arenas
  • • Headliners on Pyramid Stage (Fri, Sat, Sun evenings)
  • • Worthy Farm transforms into a temporary city

It is a Camping Festival

There are no day tickets and no hotel-style on-site accommodation. Your ticket includes camping. The festival experience is inseparable from sleeping under canvas on a Somerset farm — that is part of the magic.

The Pyramid Stage

The steel pyramid structure is the most iconic stage in music. Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening headline sets are moments that define careers and enter music history. Standing in the crowd for a Pyramid Stage headliner is a life experience.

Getting Tickets

Glastonbury tickets are among the hardest in the world to obtain. The process is not straightforward — follow these steps carefully.

1

Register at glastonburyfestivals.co.uk

Do this first

Registration is free and open year-round. You need a recent photo of your face. You cannot buy a ticket without being registered — do this now, before the sale opens.

2

October Ticket Sale

Sells out in minutes

The main ticket sale typically opens in October the year before the festival (so October 2025 for Glastonbury 2026). Tickets sell out in minutes — often under 30. Have your registration details and payment ready before the clock counts down.

3

April Resale

Second chance

Glastonbury runs a resale in April for returned tickets. A second bite at the cherry — watch the official website and social channels for the exact date.

4

Coach + Ticket Packages

Easier to get

Coach packages (including a return coach from multiple UK departure points + the festival ticket) are often easier to secure than standard tickets. They go on sale at the same time and are a legitimate and popular route in.

5

Secondary Market Warning

Buyer beware

Glastonbury tickets are non-transferable. The name on the ticket must match your registered photo ID checked at the gate. Secondary market tickets are high risk — only use authorised resellers and be aware that many listings are fraudulent.

Getting There

✈️

Bristol Airport (BRS)

The closest airport to Worthy Farm — approximately 30 minutes by car or coach. BRS has connections across the UK and Europe. The recommended airport for most visitors.

Flights to Bristol BRS →
✈️

London Heathrow (LHR)

The best international gateway — about 2h30 by car to the site. Fly into LHR then take the train from London Paddington to Castle Cary (direct Glastonbury service, ~2 hours) and the free shuttle to the site.

Flights to London LHR →

Other Ways to Reach Worthy Farm

  • 🚂Train to Castle Cary — GWR runs direct services from London Paddington to Castle Cary during the festival. Journey time approximately 2 hours. Free shuttle buses run from Castle Cary station to the site. This is the most popular route for London-based attendees and avoids all parking stress.
  • 🚌Coach packages — National Express and other operators run coach packages from London, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff and other major cities. Coach + ticket packages (bundled at time of purchase) are an excellent and stress-free option and often easier to secure than standalone tickets.
  • ✈️Exeter Airport (EXT) — approximately 45 minutes from the site; fewer international connections than BRS but worth considering for southwest UK domestic routes or smaller European airlines.
  • 🚗By car — on-site car parks available but require a separate car park pass (sold with tickets). Arrival queues on Wednesday can be several hours. Leaving on Sunday evening is notoriously slow. Park-and-ride from local sites is an alternative.

Glastonbury Stages Guide

Glastonbury is not one festival — it is eight or more different festivals running simultaneously. Here are the key areas.

Pyramid Stage

Main Headliners

The most iconic stage in music — Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening headliners. The steel pyramid structure is the visual heart of the festival. A Glastonbury pilgrimage in itself.

Other Stage

Second Stage

The second biggest stage — alternative headliners and artists who could easily headline Pyramid. Smaller crowd, better sound, often the more interesting acts.

West Holts

World & Jazz

World music, jazz, soul, reggae and electronic. West Holts has a loyal following who barely leave all weekend. Diverse and brilliantly curated.

Park Stage

Indie & Folk

Indie, folk, singer-songwriters and emerging artists. Set in a beautiful natural amphitheatre — one of the most atmospheric venues on the site.

Arcadia

Electronic

A 50-metre robotic spider sculpture that breathes fire and plays electronic music. One of the most spectacular installations in festival history. Gets going after midnight.

Block 9

Late Night

Underground club culture in an immersive scrapyard environment. Legendary late-night sets, cutting-edge bookings, and an atmosphere unlike anything else at the festival.

Shangri-La

All Night

Political art meets all-night party. Shangri-La is a self-contained world of themed zones, immersive theatre and non-stop music running from dusk to dawn.

Acoustic Stage & William's Green

Acoustic

Folk, acoustic, and smaller acts in an intimate setting. William's Green is beloved for its friendly atmosphere and unexpected discoveries.

Camping Guide

Glastonbury camping is included in the ticket price. Here is how to make the most of it.

General Camping Fields

The bulk of attendees camp in the general fields. Arrive Wednesday to claim a good spot close to the stages — by Thursday morning the best pitches are gone. Proximity to the main stages or the stone circle area are the most sought-after locations.

Podpads + Tipi Village (Glamping)

Glastonbury offers a limited number of pre-erected Podpads (raised wooden pods with bedding) and a Tipi village on-site. These must be booked separately and well in advance. They sell out rapidly and command a significant premium over general camping.

Campervan Field

A dedicated campervan area available via a separate ballot system. Limited permits are available — apply as soon as the ballot opens. Campervan pitches include a camping space alongside the vehicle.

Essential Camping Kit

  • Trolley or wheelbarrow — the walk from car parks to camping fields can be 20–30 minutes over uneven ground. A trolley is not optional for heavy bags.
  • Wellington boots — non-negotiable (see survival tips below)
  • 3-season sleeping bag — UK June nights can drop to 10–15°C. A summer bag will leave you cold. Bring a proper 3-season rated to at least 5°C.
  • Tent pegs + mallet — Somerset farmland can be hard underfoot. Bring robust pegs and something to drive them in.
  • Warm layer — even warm daytime temperatures drop significantly after midnight. A fleece or light down jacket is essential for late-night sets.

Community

Somerset Beyond Glastonbury

Flying in from overseas? Somerset and the surrounding southwest is one of England's most beautiful and historically rich regions. Arrive a few days early or stay on afterwards.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Wells Cathedral

The UK's smallest city, just 20 minutes from Glastonbury village. The cathedral's West Front (300+ medieval sculptures) is one of England's great architectural sights.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Cheddar Gorge

England's largest gorge — dramatic limestone cliffs rising 137 metres. Cheddar cheese originates here. About 30 minutes from the festival site.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Glastonbury Tor

A mystical hill rising above the Somerset Levels, topped by the ruins of St Michael's Tower. A short walk from Glastonbury town and worth it for the panoramic views.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Bath

Roman baths, Georgian honey-coloured architecture and the best city break in England. About 1 hour from the festival — a perfect day trip before or after.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Bristol

Vibrant, creative city with Banksy street art, the Clifton Suspension Bridge and a brilliant independent food and music scene. Bristol Airport (BRS) is only 30 minutes away.

Glastonbury Survival Tips

Hard-won wisdom from people who have done it right and from people who have done it very wrong.

Wellies are non-negotiable

Somerset mud is legendary — the 1997 and 2016 editions were virtually underwater. Even in a dry year, 200,000 people on a farm turns grass to mud. Bring wellies.

Bring cash

Many food traders, art stalls and bars at Glastonbury are cash only. ATMs on site run out quickly. Withdraw before you arrive.

Phone signal will fail you

200,000 people on a single cell network is too much. Agree meeting points in advance. Download offline maps. Do not rely on WhatsApp to find your friends.

The food is genuinely excellent

Glastonbury has some of the best and most diverse festival food in the world. Do not eat before you go in — explore the food markets as part of the experience.

Pacing is an art form

Five days is a long time. Sleep is not for the weak — it is for the experienced. The people who pace themselves on days one and two are the ones still dancing on Sunday night.

Wander without a plan

The best Glastonbury moments are unplanned — a band you stumbled across, a conversation that turned into an adventure, a hidden stage you found at 2am. Over-planning kills the magic.
