Private jet charter, on your schedule

Charter is priced per trip for the whole aircraft, not per seat. The quote depends on the aircraft size, the flying time, whether the jet has to fly empty to collect you (positioning), overnight and waiting time, airport and handling fees, and how busy your dates are. As a published reference, the charter operator FXAIR lists rates starting from $6,500 an hour for light jets, $7,500 for midsize, $9,000 for super-midsize, $11,000 for large and $13,000 for ultra-long-range jets (fxair.com, read 22 Oct 2026). The broker's quote for your trip is the price that counts.

Usually not per person. A charter price covers the whole aircraft, so it is shared by everyone on board: the more seats you fill, the lower the cost per person. What you buy is time and control: your own departure time, a private terminal and an airport closer to where you are going.

Empty legs. When a jet has to fly empty to collect its next client or return to base, the operator often sells that one-way flight for less. The trade-off is that the date, time and route are set by the operator and can change. How empty legs work →

A day's charter is priced on the hours flown, plus waiting time, crew overnights and fees, so a short round trip with the jet waiting costs less than a day of long flights. By FXAIR's published starting rate for a light jet ($6,500 an hour, fxair.com, read 22 Oct 2026), three hours of flying would start from $19,500 before waiting time, fees and taxes. Ask the broker to quote the day as one trip.

There is no fixed minimum. Brokers can often arrange a flight at short notice if a suitable aircraft is free nearby. For busy dates, such as school holidays and big events, ask earlier: aircraft get booked up, and a jet flown in from further away adds positioning cost.

Charters use airports with a suitable runway, including private-aviation airports and terminals (FBOs) such as Teterboro for New York, Le Bourget for Paris and Farnborough for London. If your airport is not in the search list, type its 4-letter ICAO code.
