Private jet empty legs
DubaiRiyadh

Price band: $6,500 – $25,000Flight time: ~1h 45m

Dubai to Riyadh is the most active GCC charter corridor. Daily business traffic between the UAE's commercial capital and Saudi Arabia's political and financial centre means 30–40 weekly empty legs appear across mid-size and heavy aircraft. A 90-minute Challenger 300 or Citation Sovereign charter that normally costs $14,000–18,000 routinely lists at $6,500–10,000 as an empty leg. Saudi Vision 2030 megaprojects (NEOM, The Line, Red Sea Project) have dramatically increased Riyadh-bound charter volume since 2024, with corresponding return legs to Dubai available daily. Most deals appear 24–48 hours out; same-day bookings are rare but possible.

Why this route has empty legs

Business travel between UAE and KSA generates concentrated routing — operators position aircraft for paid Riyadh-bound charters and need to return to Dubai for the next client. Saudi visa reform + Vision 2030 has accelerated this.

Seasonality

Year-round availability with two soft peaks: October–March (winter business season, Davos in the Desert in October) and Ramadan reverse (last 10 days of Ramadan + Eid see surge in family return legs). Summer (July–August) has lower business traffic but Hajj-season repositioning around the Saudi Western Region.

Frequently asked questions

Dubai International or Al Maktoum for charter?+

Al Maktoum (DWC) is the operator-preferred FBO airport — faster turnarounds, dedicated business aviation terminal. Dubai International (DXB) accepts charter but slots compete with heavy commercial traffic. Most empty leg listings show DWC.

Riyadh has only one airport?+

For now. King Khalid International (RUH) serves all Riyadh charter. The new Riyadh Airport megaproject (under construction, 2030 target) will expand capacity 6x. King Salman International (codename) is currently still in design.

Can I add a stop in Doha or Bahrain?+

Yes — multi-leg charter quotes are routine in the GCC. Empty legs are by definition single-leg, but operators can quote a paid multi-leg if your routing is flexible. Cost is typically 1.3-1.5x a single direct charter.
