Barcelona Airport Transfer Guide

🇪🇸 Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat (BCN) — Updated 2026

Barcelona-El Prat (BCN) is 14 km south-west of central Barcelona — typically a 20-35 min drive on the C-31. The Aerobús (€7.25 to Plaça Catalunya, 35 min direct) is the budget winner. Renfe Rodalies train R2 Nord (€5.50 to Sants/Passeig de Gracia, 25 min) is another option but only stops at BCN T2 (international long-haul mostly at T1, requires shuttle). The Metro L9 Sud (€5.70 with BCN supplement, 32 min to Zona Universitària, requires transfer) is comprehensive but multi-leg. Pre-booked transfers €35-90 give meet-and-greet + multi-language driver + flight tracking — strongly recommended for cruise-port arrivals (BCN→port is 12 km, 30-45 min).

FAQ

Aerobús or pre-booked transfer from BCN?+

Aerobús: €7.25 (~$8), 35 min direct BCN→Plaça Catalunya, every 10 min, both terminals. Pre-booked transfer: €35-90, 20-40 min, door-to-door. For solo + hotel near Plaça Catalunya / La Rambla / Eixample (walkable from Catalunya): Aerobús is excellent value. For 3+ pax, heavy luggage, or hotels not central: transfer is competitive.

BCN T1 vs T2?+

T1: most international long-haul (Vueling hub, Star Alliance, Oneworld). T2 (subdivided into T2A, T2B, T2C): low-cost focused (Ryanair, easyJet, some Vueling). Free shuttle bus between, every 6-7 min, 10-min ride. For international connections within T1: 60 min minimum. International→domestic between terminals: 90+ min.

Sitges day-trip from BCN — direct?+

Sitges is 30 km south of BCN on the coast (35-55 min direct). Renfe R2 Sud train from BCN (T2 station): €4.40, 35 min, every 30 min. For day-trippers: train is excellent value.
