LAX to Beverly Hills — what's the realistic time?+
Off-peak (10:00-15:00, after 21:00): 25-35 min for the 16 km. Rush hour (17:00-19:00): 55-80 min. The 405 freeway northbound is notorious. Pre-booked transfer or Uber black-car will use Sepulveda Boulevard alternates if traffic warrants it; tourist-driven taxis often won't.
Why can't I get an Uber at the LAX terminal?+
Since November 2023 LAX banned curbside ride-share pickups due to traffic congestion. All Uber + Lyft pickups happen at the LAX-IT lot — a 15-20 min walk or free shuttle from arrivals. This adds friction and time. Pre-booked transfers (Welcome Pickups, Kiwitaxi) still pick up at terminal-front zones with a permit, no walk required.
FlyAway bus — when is it worth it?+
FlyAway is $9.75 direct bus from LAX to Union Station / Van Nuys / Hollywood / Long Beach. Runs every 15-30 min, no traffic-stop except destination. For solo travellers staying near Union Station (Downtown LA), it's extraordinary value. For other LA destinations: less useful as you need an onward Uber from the FlyAway terminus.
LAX to Disneyland direct — pre-booked or rental car?+
Pre-booked transfer LAX→Anaheim: $110-175 one-way, 50-90 min, drops at hotel. For a 5+ day stay: 2-3 day rental car ($150-300) is often cheaper than 2 transfers + Disneyland parking. For 1-2 night stays: pre-booked transfer easier (Anaheim Resort hotels have free Disneyland shuttles).
