KTEL airport bus (€3, 15 min to Fabrika central bus station) works if your hotel is walkable from Fabrika + you're carrying light luggage. Why are Mykonos taxis limited?+
The island has approximately 30 licensed taxis serving 1.5M+ annual tourists. In peak July-August, taxi waits at the airport reach 45-75 minutes without pre-booking. Uber does not operate. Beat + Free Now (Greek app-based) has minimal Mykonos coverage. Pre-booked transfer is the only reliable option for luxury villa + late-night arrivals.
Villa arrival vs hotel arrival — different transfer setup?+
Yes. Luxury villas (Elia, Kalo Livadi, Ftelia, Panormos) typically arrange their own driver + car as part of the villa package — check with the villa manager 24-48 hours before arrival for driver coordination. Standard hotel arrivals use Welcome Pickups or Kiwitaxi with meet-and-greet + hotel drop. If your villa doesn't offer transport, pre-book Welcome Pickups with the villa's exact GPS location.
Ferry-day + JMK arrival — combined transfer?+
Common — many visitors do JMK arrival → 2-3 nights Mykonos → ferry to Santorini or Athens. Pre-book combined JMK → hotel → Mykonos Old Port ferry departure transfer (2 separate legs). Ferry departure times (Blue Star Ferries + SeaJets) are 07:00-09:00; morning traffic on transfer day is congested — leave 30 min buffer.
