Grab (THB 500-1,200) is generally cheaper + convenient. BUT: HKT has a documented Grab-driver tout problem where some drivers charge 20% surcharge or refuse Grab pickups outside marked zones. Phi Phi Islands from HKT — how does it work?+
Pre-book HKT → Rassada Pier transfer to catch the Phi Phi fast ferry (departing 09:00 + 15:00 daily). Combined with your Phi Phi accommodation booking, some hotels arrange full HKT → Phi Phi transfer package including the ferry. Same-day connection: land HKT before 12:00 to catch the 15:00 ferry (last of the day).
HKT to Krabi transfer — bus or private?+
Two options: (1) Grab or private taxi HKT → Bang Rong Pier (THB 500-800) → ferry to Ao Nang / Krabi Town (THB 350-450, 90 min). Total THB 850-1,250 + 2 hours. (2) Direct van HKT → Krabi (THB 350-500 pp, 3 hours) via land route. Ferry option is faster + more scenic.
HKT tout scam — how to avoid?+
Drivers approaching inside the arrivals hall with "cheap taxi" offers are the classic HKT scam. They quote THB 800 then negotiate up to THB 1,500 mid-journey. Use ONLY: (1) fixed-fare kiosk taxi (official, printed card); (2) Grab pickup zone (marked outside arrivals); (3) pre-booked transfer with driver holding name sign. First-time Phuket visitors are the primary target — pre-book for peace of mind.
