Scam Avoidance Tips

Only board taxis from the official rank — never follow touts inside the terminal.
Confirm the driver uses a meter or agrees a fixed fare before you get in.
Check the taxi has an official TCA sticker and the driver's ID is visible.
Agree luggage fees upfront — extras should be listed on the tariff card.
Pay by card if possible; it creates a digital record and avoids change scams.
Report overcharging to Schiphol's info desk or call 0900-8844 (Dutch police).

There is no single official fixed fare — licensed taxis use meters. However, many companies advertise fixed-price bookings online (typically €40–€48) which can offer predictability. Always confirm before departure.

How long does a taxi from Schiphol to central Amsterdam take?

Typically 25–35 minutes in normal traffic. During peak hours (07:00–09:00, 16:00–19:00) or roadworks, this can extend to 45–60 minutes.

Can I pre-book a taxi at Schiphol Airport?

Yes. Schiphol's official taxi partner and several third-party services offer pre-booking. Pre-booked fixed fares are often cheaper and remove the risk of surge pricing. Book at least 24 hours in advance.
