How to Get the Official Taxi
- After customs, follow signs to the Taxi Voucher counter inside the Arrivals hall.
- Tell the agent your destination and pay the fixed voucher rate (cash or card).
- You'll be given a printed voucher and escorted to your taxi by the coordinator.
- Hand the driver the voucher at the end — no additional payment unless you went through the toll road.
Grab & Gojek from Bali Airport
Grab and Gojek are typically 30–50% cheaper than the official taxi cooperative. However, you must walk to the designated ride-hailing pick-up zone located on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park — about a 5-minute walk from the terminal (follow "Online Taxi" signs).
Grab/Gojek prices vary by demand and time. Prices higher during Nyepi (Balinese New Year) and peak season.
Scam Tips
- Don't accept taxi offers from people approaching you at baggage claim — go to the official counter
- If a driver asks for more than the voucher rate, refuse — show the voucher and walk away
- Avoid unlicensed drivers outside the airport perimeter who approach with signs
- For Grab/Gojek, confirm the driver's plate number matches the app before getting in
FAQ
Is Grab allowed inside Bali airport?▼
Not in the main terminal. Grab operates from the designated online taxi zone in the car park. Walk there after collecting bags — it adds 5 min but saves 30–50%.
Can I negotiate the official taxi price?▼
No — official taxi prices are fixed and non-negotiable. That's the benefit: no haggling, no surprises.
How long is the taxi ride to Ubud?▼
Around 60–90 min depending on traffic, especially through Denpasar and Batubulan. Traffic can be heavy 07:00–09:00 and 17:00–19:00.
Is there a bus from Bali airport?▼
Yes — Damri bus serves Denpasar Bus Station and Kuta (about IDR 30,000–50,000). It's slow and infrequent. Best for budget travellers heading to Kuta or Denpasar, not Ubud or Seminyak.
