Pchum Ben (Ancestors' Day)

“Cambodia's 15-day festival for the ancestors — dawn offerings at pagodas and a three-day national holiday”

Pchum Ben is one of Cambodia's most important Buddhist festivals: a 15-day period when families visit pagodas to make food offerings for their ancestors. The name joins "pchum" (to gather) and "ben" (a ball of food). The last three days are a national public holiday, when many Cambodians travel home to the provinces — so buses and roads are busy and many shops and restaurants close.
