72 hours at Aman Tokyo — what the black envelope actually contains
Three days at Aman Tokyo, alone, in November. Here is the suite you should be booking, the dining floor you should not be missing, and the small envelope the concierge will slide across the desk on Day 2.
The story
Marcus checks in for 72 hours at Aman Tokyo (the property occupies the top six floors of the Otemachi Tower). He covers the actual suite categories worth the money — the Deluxe Corner Suite versus the underrated Aman Suite — the dining etiquette on Floor 33, the small envelope of hand-cut cards the concierge produces when you've settled in (private sake tasting at a maker in Nihonbashi; a woodblock-print printmaker who takes one visitor per week), and the single most useful sentence to say to the front desk. Aspirational co-star: a fashion editor named Maki he shares an omakase table with, no further contact required.
