The real rules

Emirates uses two systems. The weight concept applies on most routes: you can check as many bags as you like up to your total allowance, with no single bag over 32 kg. The piece concept applies on flights to and from the Americas and flights to and from Africa: a set number of bags at 23 kg (Economy, Premium Economy) or 32 kg (Business, First).

In Economy the allowance depends on the fare: Special 20 kg, Saver 25 kg, Flex 30 kg, Flex Plus 35 kg on weight-concept routes. On Americas and Africa routes Special gets one 23 kg piece and the other Economy fares two. Flights within the Americas and between the US and Europe have their own rule: one 23 kg piece on Special and Saver, two on Flex and Flex Plus.

Cabin bags: one 7 kg bag up to 55 × 38 × 22 cm in Economy, 10 kg in Premium Economy. Business and First get a 7 kg bag plus a 7 kg briefcase or garment bag. Flights departing Brazil allow up to 10 kg of cabin baggage.
