Which season should you pick?

Equatorial year-round warmth (26–32°C). No true dry/wet season; travel any month. Peak tourist arrivals Nov–Feb align with Northern Hemisphere winter escapes.

Peak season

Nov–Feb

Best weather. Highest prices — book flights + hotels 3+ months out.

Shoulder — best value

Mar–May, Sep–Oct

Weather still good, prices drop 20–40%. Sweet spot for budget travellers.

Avoid

None — check individual event calendars

Only worth it if you have specific reason — deep discounts, but weather works against you.

Search flights for your dates

Once you've picked a month, compare flight prices across airlines. Prices for Kampala (EBB) shift 20–40% between peak and shoulder months.

Book a hotel in Kampala

Nov–Feb rooms sell out first at the best hotels. If you're travelling peak, book 60+ days out. Shoulder-season rooms rarely need more than 30 days lead.

Local tip

EBB is 40km SW of Kampala on Lake Victoria — the airport is at Entebbe (a separate lake town), NOT Kampala itself. Uber/Bolt available at EBB but pricey (USD 21-40). SafeBoda (motorbike-taxi app) is popular Kampala option — cheap + fast but not for luggage. For short 3-6h layovers: stay at Entebbe (botanical gardens + lakeside are 15 min from airport). For 12+ hours: worth the trip to Kampala for Uganda Museum + Craft Village. Note: Uganda drives on LEFT.
