Sigiriya vs Pidurangala Rock?
Sigiriya has the ancient site + frescoes but expensive + crowded. Pidurangala is cheaper ($3), less crowded, gives you the classic Sigiriya photo. Do both if possible.
How many days do I need at Sigiriya?
2 days minimum — day 1 Sigiriya Rock + Pidurangala sunset, day 2 Dambulla + Minneriya elephants. Add days for Polonnaruwa + Anuradhapura.
When is the best time to see wild elephants?
July-October is "The Gathering" at Minneriya — 300+ elephants gather at the reservoir. Kaudulla National Park is the November-April alternative.
