Belgrade Nikola Tesla International (BEG) sits 18km west of the city, connected by two bus lines. The A1 Airport Minibus is the tourist standard — RSD 400 (about USD 3.70) direct to Slavija Square (central Belgrade) in 35-45 minutes with a 30-minute frequency 04:00-04:00 (nearly 24/7 with a brief window closed). For the budget option, City Bus 72 (also GSP Belgrade — the same public transit operator as A1) charges RSD 150 (~USD 1.40) with a BusPlus card + 45-60 minutes to Zeleni Venac via Ada Ciganlija. Both drop you within walking distance of the tram network + main tourist areas (Knez Mihailova, Kalemegdan). For direct-to-hotel service, CarGo (Serbia's dominant ride-hail app since Uber withdrew in 2022) charges RSD 700-1,200 (USD 6.50-11) to central Belgrade — cheaper than the airport taxi flat fare of RSD 1,800-2,500. Yandex Go is also available. AVOID drivers approaching in arrivals — Serbian airport taxis have a "flat fare zone" scam where drivers claim distances are outside the base zone. Use CarGo or the marked taxi rank with visible pricing sheets.

FAQ

A1 minibus or City Bus 72 from Belgrade airport?+

A1 for tourists (RSD 400, 35-45 min, direct to central Slavija Square, luggage-friendly). City Bus 72 for locals + tight budgets (RSD 150, 45-60 min, more stops, requires a BusPlus card). If it's your first trip and you have luggage, A1 is worth the extra RSD 250.

Why is CarGo used instead of Uber in Belgrade?+

Uber withdrew from Serbia in 2022 after regulatory issues. CarGo is the domestic replacement — same UX, tracked driver, transparent pricing, card in-app. Uber didn't return in 2026. Yandex Go also operates but with smaller driver pool. Use CarGo as the default; foreigners find it works well with international SIM.

Is the Belgrade airport taxi safe?+

The approved taxi rank in front of arrivals (yellow booth, printed price sheet posted) is safe — always ask for a printed price ticket before boarding, which locks in the flat fare (RSD 1,800-2,500 depending on zone). Avoid drivers approaching inside the terminal — they charge 2-3× and claim "outside zone" surcharges. If in doubt, use CarGo.

Late-night Belgrade airport transport?+

A1 Airport Minibus runs 04:00-04:00 (a rare near-24/7 airport bus in Europe), with a 30-minute frequency day + night. City Bus 72 stops around 23:30. For the small 04:00-04:30 window when nothing runs: CarGo (24/7) or the airport taxi rank (always staffed).
