Train — Airport Link Metro
The Airport Link train connects both T2/T3 (domestic) and T1 (international) terminals directly to the city. Trains run every 10 minutes during peak hours and every 15 minutes off-peak, operating roughly 5 am–midnight daily.

Bus — Routes 400 & 410

The A$15.94 gate fee. Both Airport Link train stations charge a "station access fee" that's built into the fare. It's effectively airport rent + is not avoidable unless you walk to the nearest non-airport station (Wolli Creek, 3km walk with bags — not realistic).
Off-peak saves money. Adult single fare is A$21.90 peak (07:00-09:00 + 16:00-18:30 weekdays), A$16.29 off-peak (all other times + weekends). Same journey. Wait 15 min if you land at 08:55 and save A$5.61.
Bus 400 is the honest budget option. A$5.29 with Opal — cheapest way to CBD. Runs via Randwick + Bondi Junction, 45-60 min. Only worth it if your hotel is in the eastern suburbs OR you're on a strict backpacker budget + happy with 45+ min journey. Otherwise train wins.
Late-night arrivals. Airport Link runs 04:47-00:47 (T1 international) / 04:24-00:52 (T2/T3 domestic). After that: Uber only (24/7). Metered taxi rank operates 24/7 but late-night wait can be 15-30 min. NightRide N10 bus runs Fri/Sat 01:00-04:00 but doesn't serve airport directly.
Terminal to terminal. T1 (international) is 4km from T2/T3 (domestic). Airport Link train connects the two in 2 min — do NOT walk. If you have a domestic connection after landing at T1, allow 30 min for transfer including train.
