Tbilisi International (TBS) sits 17km east of the city, connected by the workhorse Bus 337 — a GEL 1 (about USD 0.37) 24-hour service that runs to Station Square (Tbilisi Central Railway) via Freedom Square in 40-55 minutes. This is one of the cheapest airport-to-capital connections in the world. You need a MetroMoney contactless card (GEL 2 deposit + fare loaded) — buy it at the machine in the arrivals hall. Cash is not accepted on Tbilisi buses. Frequency is 20-30 minutes day + night. For arrivals with luggage, Bolt (the dominant ride-hail app in Georgia) is the practical alternative at GEL 15-25 (USD 5.50-9) to central Tbilisi — cheaper than the official airport taxi flat fare (GEL 30-45) and infinitely safer than unmarked drivers. Yandex Go and Maxim also operate but Bolt has better airport coverage. There is also a Georgian Railways commuter train (GEL 0.50, 5 daily services) — dirt cheap but only 5 runs per day and the station is a 500m walk from the terminal, so most travellers skip it. Note: Tbilisi Metro doesn't serve the airport; the closest station (Isani) is a 30-minute bus ride away.

FAQ

How much is Bus 337 from Tbilisi airport?+

GEL 1 (~USD 0.37) via MetroMoney contactless card. Buy the card from the vending machine in the arrivals hall — GEL 2 deposit + your fare loaded on top. Cash is not accepted on Georgian buses since the MetroMoney rollout completed in 2023. The card also works on Tbilisi Metro (line 1 + line 2) at GEL 1 per journey.

Is Bolt cheaper than airport taxi in Tbilisi?+

Yes, meaningfully. Bolt runs GEL 15-25 from TBS to central Tbilisi vs GEL 30-45 flat for the official yellow taxi. Bolt fares are transparent + shown before you accept, driver + car are tracked. It's the standard for foreigners in 2026. Data via roaming or a local SIM (Magti/Silknet, buy at the airport, GEL 15 for 5GB).

Does Tbilisi Metro serve the airport?+

No. The closest metro station is Isani on Line 1, about 30 minutes by Bus 337. From the airport: Bus 337 → Isani → Metro Line 1 → anywhere on the network for GEL 1 more. Some travellers find this slower than staying on 337 all the way to Freedom Square.

Late-night Tbilisi airport transport?+

Bus 337 is genuinely 24/7 with reduced frequency (30-40 min) at night. Bolt runs 24/7 with normal fares (no big surge). Official taxi rank always staffed (GEL 35-50 nighttime flat). Tbilisi is one of very few Caucasus airports with all-night public transport — a genuine plus for red-eye arrivals.
