Japan Alps ryokan in autumn — which four?
A six-day ryokan crawl from Nagoya through the Alps to Nagano needs four properties. My rotation: one 400-year-old merchant house in Takayama, two Hida-Furukawa properties, one Nagano twelve-room-one-seating. If you have your own four — I want the names, the reason each stays on your rotation, and the driving order.
Mine: Ryokan Kitachō (Takayama, 1770), Yatsusankan (Hida-Furukawa), Yamashiro (Hida-Furukawa alternate), Zenbo Seniwa (Nagano, twelve rooms). Drive Nagoya → Takayama → Furukawa → Nagano — 6 days.
