Where is the official taxi rank?
The official taxi service is Uber Airport. Book in the Uber app, at self-service kiosks or at the service counter in each terminal; pick-up points are directly in front of the arrival halls of Terminals 1 and 2.
Common scams to watch out for
People offering rides outside the terminal
Prague Airport warns not to accept ride offers from individuals standing outside the terminals, often wearing "Official Taxi" labels. They are not the official service.
How to avoid: Book Uber Airport in the app, at a kiosk or at the counter, and share the six-digit PIN with the driver.
Overcharging on the meter
The airport reports complaints of overcharging and illegally modified taximeters on traditional metered taxis. The regulated maximum in Prague is CZK 60 base, CZK 36 a kilometre and CZK 7 a minute waiting.
How to avoid: Ask for the printed taximeter receipt. If the driver wants more than shown or refuses a receipt, do not pay and call the Municipal Police on 156.
Unlicensed cars
Licensed taxis must show a TAXI roof sign, a yellow registration sticker and the driver's ID card visible inside.
How to avoid: Check all three before you get in. The sticker and ID can be checked on the Ministry of Transport website.
