Leonardo Express
The Leonardo Express is a non-stop direct train from FCO Airport to Roma Termini, Rome's main railway hub. It departs every 30 minutes, has dedicated luggage areas, and never stops at intermediate stations. It's the fastest and most straightforward option, especially with heavy bags.

Ticket-machine trap. Machines default to Leonardo Express. If you want FL1, tap "Regionale" not "Intercity/Leonardo Express". Wrong ticket + inspector = €50 fine. Also VALIDATE FL1 tickets in the green box before boarding (Leonardo Express tickets don't need validation — pre-printed with date). Missed validation is another €50 fine.
Where the station is. Follow "Treno / Trains" signs from FCO T1 baggage claim — 5 minute walk down one escalator. Both Leonardo Express + FL1 use the same station (Fiumicino Aeroporto), just different platforms. Departure boards clearly mark which train + platform.
Late arrival options. If you land after 22:35, trains stop. Options: SIT/Cotral night bus (see rome-airport-bus-guide), Uber Black €65-95, or metered taxi €55 flat. Booking Uber before you clear customs cuts wait time to 5 min.
