Non-Schengen piers: E + F + G are mostly KLM long-haul + SkyTeam (Delta, Air France, Korean Air, China Southern). H pier is Star Alliance + Gulf (Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, United, American). D pier is split-level — Schengen lower, non-Schengen upper. Check your boarding pass.

How do I get from Schiphol to central Amsterdam?+

The train. Schiphol station is directly under the central terminal — 15-20 min to Amsterdam Centraal, €5.90 single. 4-8 trains per hour. NS Intercity also serves Den Haag, Rotterdam, Utrecht directly. Bus 397 / Amsterdam Airport Express goes to Museumplein and Leidseplein for €7. Taxi is €45-€60. The Metro does not serve Schiphol.

Is there a long walk between piers at Schiphol?+

Yes — Schiphol is large. End-to-end (B-pier to H-pier) is a 15-20 minute walk. There are moving walkways but no internal train. Allow at least 30 minutes between connecting flights of the same airline, 45-60 if changing between Schengen and non-Schengen (passport control + security re-check).

Where is the on-airport library at Schiphol?+

Holland Boulevard, between piers F and G, after passport control on the non-Schengen side. Free, 24/7, has 1,000+ Dutch books to read on the spot (can't take them out). One of Schiphol's genuine surprises — quieter than the gates.

Can I leave Schiphol during a layover?+

Take the train to Amsterdam Centraal (15 min), allow 3 hours minimum round trip. Schiphol left-luggage is in the basement (€7-€15 per item per day).
