Terminal 1 — ALL international flights (Qantas long-haul, Air NZ, Singapore Airlines, Cathay, BA, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, United, American, Delta, Air Canada, JAL, ANA, Korean, Thai, etc.). Terminal 2 — Jetstar + Virgin Australia + Rex (all domestic). Terminal 3 — Qantas domestic + QantasLink only.
How do I get from Sydney Airport to the city?+
Airport Link train — AUD 22.40 (T2/T3) or AUD 21.40 (T1), 13-20 min direct to Central / Town Hall / Wynyard. Best option. Stations directly under the terminals. Bus 400 to Bondi Junction AUD 5-6 (slow, 40-50 min). Taxi AUD 50-65. Uber AUD 35-55.
How do I get between Sydney T1 and T2/T3?+
Free T-Bus shuttle (every 10 min, 5-10 min ride), or pay the Airport Link train inter-terminal fare (AUD 7.30 — yes, separate fare even though same line!). Walking is not practical — 15-min walk via outdoor path. Allow 30 min minimum for inter-terminal connection.
Can I leave Sydney Airport during a layover?+
Yes for visa-eligible travellers — Australian ETA (electronic visa) takes ~12 min via the app. Take the Airport Link train to Central station (13 min), then 5-min walk or tram to Circular Quay for Opera House + Harbour Bridge views. Allow 4-5 hours minimum round trip. Free T-Bus between airport terminals if just stretching legs.
How early should I arrive at Sydney Airport?+
Domestic: 90 min. International: 3 hours. Sydney security is generally efficient (15-30 min typical) but international (T1) immigration on departure can hit 45-60 min queues at peak. Qantas Business + oneworld Emerald get priority lanes.
